We asked Brad Paisley fans what they thought of "Accidental Racist", now that the dust has settled.
It's been about a month since the controversy surrounding bad-idea song of the decade "Accidental Racist," the duet by Brad Paisley and LL Cool J, exploded all over everyone.

Paisley's on tour now, and last night he arrived at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in suburban St. Louis. Photographer Jon Gitchoff took a quick survey of fans about that song, now that the white-hot heat that only masses of bloggers can create, has cooled.

Most fans liked the song -- "it's an amazing song", "[it's] a truthful song" -- but a few, not so much: "it sucked."

"I didn't think about it, didn't bother me at all."

"I think he was trying to get his word out there. He was just trying to make peace with people, and he's not racist, but I guess the lyrics didn't do it justice."

03-brad-paisley-fan.jpg
"I'm not good with words. I don't know what to make of it."

"I don't know if I like it or dislike it. It's OK, I guess."

Tolerant of such lyrical knowledge bombs like "If you don't judge my gold chains/I'll forget the iron chains?" Yeah -- that's some real Lennon/McCartney-esque material we're dealing with. Paisley can play the shit out of a Fender Telecaster, but it's pretty clear social commentary isn't his forte.

Pardon me, Esteban. I do not tolerate bigots who don't think they are bigots. I am a intolerant of your intolerance. :)

I was going to ask why everyone you interviewed was a major hoosier, then I remembered it was at the kickoff of "hoosierfest 2013". Sigh.
