KDHX (88.1 FM) has completed the move to its new home, the Larry J. Weir Center in Grand Station, and will officially begin broadcasting from the building this upcoming Sunday, December 15, at noon. In case you missed it, RFT Music got an exclusive first look at the new digs, and trust when we tell you the space is looking SHARP.

The final show at the Magnolia location will be Ed Becker's "Songwriter's Showcase," which will close with an as-yet-unannounced final song, chosen by KDHX's DJs. Immediately following, the station will switch signals to the new location and play the first song.

And that's where you come in!

KDHX has decided to hand over the choosing of that first song to the listeners. Vote here for the song you think should be played. The eleven choices were all culled from listener nominations, and each makes sense in its own right, but there can be only one. Here are the nominees:

Grateful Dead, "The Music Never Stopped"

Curtis Mayfield, "Move On Up"

Elmore James, "Dust My Broom"

The Rolling Stones, "Start Me Up"

The Ramones, "Do You Remember Rock 'N' Roll Radio?"

Geyer Street Sheiks, "Great Dream From Heaven"

Elvis Costello and the Attractions, "Radio Radio"

Pokey LaFarge, "Central Time"

Talking Heads, "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)"

The Velvet Underground, "Rock and Roll"

John Hartford, "Turn Your Radio On"

(Personally, I think the station should do like 104.1 Extreme Radio did back when it first went on the air in '99, and play GNR's "Welcome to the Jungle" over and over again for three days straight. It was funny, back then, for my friends and I to check back every few hours, just to see if we had gotten out of the jungle yet. Sure enough, we hadn't. Remember when that happened? Remember "Extreme Radio"? Remember back when GNR was even remotely, mildly relevant? No? Do you even know what GNR stands for? No to all of those, huh? Dammit. I got old somehow.)

I nominate John & Yoko's "(Just Like) Starting Over" closely followed by The Kinks "Do It Again"

I am abstaining from a vote since "Tarzan Boy" didn't make the final cut.

Of those I'd vote Pokey Lafarge "Central Time". He's local and gaining a national fan base.

"That Was Then: This is Now" by the Monkees. (Perhaps a tad too obscure.)
