Attention LouFest Organizers: Please Get OutKast, Thanks

News broke just yesterday that Big Boi and Andre 3000, best known for their work as the dynamic Atlanta hip-hop duo OutKast, will be doing a festival tour this year. The outing is said to consist of more than 40 dates this spring/summer, starting in mid-April at Indio, California's esteemed Coachella music festival -- that reunion performance, which had been rumored since late 2013, was officially announced with the fest's lineup last week. Yesterday's news means the rest of us sad saps won't have to pay absurd amounts of money for scalped tickets (Coachella is already sold out) just to catch the 'Kast back in action again.

And that's why I'm looking at you, LouFest.

Now, there's a little thing called "journalistic integrity," I'm told. One of the things it dictates is that I am not to use my position as music editor of this paper for personal gain. But, uh, I want to see OutKast, and I want to do so in Forest Park. And I am sure that my fellow citizens of St. Louis would agree with me.

Enter, then, this blog post, which I sincerely hope Brian Cohen and the fine folks at C3 Presents are reading right now. Hey, guys, you should probably get OutKast on this year's bill! St. Louis music fans would certainly appreciate it.

Crowd shot from last year's event. These people would be ecstatic to see OutKast. I am sure of it.

It doesn't seem entirely unlikely that the festival's organizers are already on this. LouFest has risen dramatically in stature since C3 got involved, drawing huge numbers (31,000 people over two days in 2013, up from 12,000 in 2012) and delivering excellent sets by top-tier acts. C3's status as producer for other national festivals such as Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza makes this dream seem all the more tangible -- I'd be willing to bet OutKast finds itself on at least one of those events this year.

Continue to page two for more of our case for the 'Kast.

The odds are better at getting them than having three local bands on the bill.

Come to Hangout in Gulf shores. Outkast, Killers, Avett Bros. Additionally, Hangout makes an effort to see to the safety and comfort of their people: cooling stations, flies for shade, ample water stations, varied food/beverage choices. Take note, LouFest.

Although there are always great musicians at LouFest, they don't seem to draw the hook for me. OutKast would do it, though.

Please don't. Way to much for its budget. It would hurt all the other acts.

Who are we kidding? It's gonna be a double headline show by Wilco this year with opening act Jeff Tweedy.
