Bunnygrunt - Saturday, August 30 @ the Engine Room.
This holiday weekend, locals Drown Fish and Ou Ou debut new releases, Big Muddy Blues Festival comes to Laclede's Landing and much more. Head to the Demo to congratulate staff on obtaining its liquor license, and stick around to check out the new Music Record Shop as well as the Bands Up, Don't Shoot Ferguson benefit show at the Ready Room. Read on for more information for these shows in this weekend's recommendations.

Friday (August 29):

Big Muddy Blues Festival
w/ Everette Dean, Billy Peek, Marquise Knox
@ Laclede's Landing
7 p.m. | free-$90
An annual event now in its nineteenth year, Big Muddy Blues Festival brings 24 acts and three stages to Laclede's Landing for what is sure to be a stompin' good time over the course of three days. (DH)

The Clothesline
w/ Hubbble, DJ Sinamin, DJ Agile One
@ Blank Space
9 p.m. | $5
This Blank Space event features "Videobodiment," an interactive video installation by Silvia and Derek Dadian-Smith, along with a line-up of local sounds. Fifty-perecent of the even'ts proceeds will go to Michael Brown's memorial fund. (MS)

Sweet Talk
w/ Black James, Psychedelic Gangbang
@ Livery Company
8 p.m. | $5
Sweet Talk comes from Austin to play its poppy, punky rock'n'roll -- check it out on Bandcamp. Local openers Black James and a mysterious new (?) project called Psychedelic Gangbang are bound to make the rest of the party dance-worthy. (MS)

Also on Friday, check out the Weirdos at Atomic Cowboy and Fielded at the Luminary, where Ou Ou will release a new album. Click the links for more info.

Saturday (August 30):

Bunnygrunt
w/ The Ottomen, Popular Mechanics
@ The Engine Room

With Karen Reid no longer living in St. Louis, Bunnygrunt shows have become few and far between. Don't miss this one! (DH)

DMX
w/ St. Lunatics
@ Ambassador
8 p.m. | $35-$50
There's nothing I could tell you about DMX that you don't already know, and either love or hate. Instead, let's watch this video of him losing his mind on a rollercoaster in Orlando. (DH)

Islands
w/ Teen
@ The Firebird
8:30 p.m. | $12-$14
Despite near-constant lineup shifts, Islands remains, going into its tenth year and with new album Ski Mask having been released this past fall. (DH)
