Coyne on The Contender, Weeks 4 & 5

Categories: Contender
Well, this RFT scribe was a little preoccupied eating Boston lobstahs and playing Wii on New Year's Eve, and episode four of "The Contender" just kinda...came and went.

You'll be either thrilled or bewildered to know that despite our town's injured Ryan Coyne going balls to the walls and calling out a rival in episode number-three, the gold team passed over Coyne on New Year's and instead made a match between Deon Elam and Richard Gringas from the blue team. (Who said boxers aren't boxes of rocks.)

You can watch all of episode four, sans commercials, here.

Last week, Coyne got his stitches removed and plowed back into the ring.

Though gold's coach Tommy Brooks thought his guy Hino Ehikhamenor should call out Coyne ("The boy (Coyne) has no defense," said Brooks), Coyne squeaked by yet again.

Instead, the blue team's big boy, Darnell Wilson, got the match-up. Dude tipped the scales by ten pounds at the weigh-in! Not pretty. (You can watch all of episode five here.)

The sixth show in the series airs at 9 p.m. tonight. Gold team is still in charge of setting the fights.

Will Ryan Coyne finally get it? Check back tomorrow to find out.
