Maybe Rick Ankiel's New Mustache Does Bring Good Luck

Update: The pro athlete mustache beat is truly proving to be a hairy one this season. Rick Ankiel's Burt Reynolds turned out to be a good luck charm Tuesday night. As you know, Rick's been taking it on the chin for most of this season, but maybe the lip sweater he's sporting had something to do with the boosted offense against the Mets. A few innings after this original post went up, Ankiel popped a long double to right field to drive in Brendan Ryan. Bottom line, Cards win, 6-4.
Cardinals Golden Boy Rick Ankiel was batting a glum .179 going into Tuesday night's game against the Mets, and sadly, it looks like his new mustache isn't bringing him much good luck. Maybe the 'stache is part of his more grown-up persona he's trying to put forth this year. Either way, we hope it works out and "Swingin' Dick" Ankiel rises out of this slump.
